Tourist office launches "Zug after 6" project

The Zug Tourist Office has launched a new project called "Zug after 6", targeting businessmen and women visiting the city and providing them with an opportunity of doing something different rather than spending the evening in front of the TV or in the hotel bar.

"We would like our guests to develop an emotional attachment to the city and the canton," said Urs Raschle, head of Zug Tourism. Eight companies have agreed to cooperate in the project, which is being coordinated by Cornelia Wyrsch from the Cham-based Divi Event GmbH. The events on offer on Wednesday evenings at 6.30 pm can be seen on the Zug Tourismus homepage.

The idea is unique within Switzerland and gives guests the opportunity to go to a concert in the Casino Theatre or take part in a City treasure hunt. Then they can enjoy a typical Swiss fondue or dine at the new Bossard Arena where they can where they can watch an ice hockey match at the same time. There is even the possibility of being taught nordic walking on the Zugerberg, ideal for reducing stress.

Raschle recognises that the project may be a slow starter but Wednesday's walk, which saw 12 people come to the Guggiwiese and enjoy a glorious sunset, certainly got the project off to an encouraging start.
