Frauenthal Convent in Hagendorn - www.frauenthal.ch
Surrounded by forests and fields, the Frauenthal Convent, founded in 1231, radiates a special charm.
The delicious products made by the nuns there have been famous for over 200 years: you must try the gingerbread, the "Krapfen", the dried apple pieces or other specialities available in their own little shop. We recommend going to Frauenthal by bicycle, but you can also get there easily by public transport or car, and you could combine a visit to the convent with an excursion to the Bützen restaurant to see the storks - it is 20 minutes' walk from the convent.
Castle of Hünenberg
What do you think it looked like in the castle in the 14th century at the time of Henry of Hünenberg?
The castle remains were discovered between 1945 and 1951 and they now invite you to an exclusive family barbecue or a fun afternoon in the shade of the ruins - a knightly feast in open in unspoilt countryside. Or you can dip your feet into the cool stream or even have a competition with the children to dam it. The ruin is not merely stones and pieces of wall - the castle has a lot of atmosphere to offer.
Homeopathic Garden
A homeopathic garden, the only one of its kind in Switzerland, was inaugurated and opened to the public in the summer of 2005 at Steinhauserstrasse 51 in Zug.
The garden displays around 120 types of herbs that are used in homeopathy, arranged in rows according to their application, and offers instructive insight into the large spectrum of homeopathic medicinal herbs. The garden is of great interest, not only to nature lovers and homeopaths, but also, for example, to classes of school children. Furthermore, the rose that was cultivated in honour of Dr. Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, can be admired here: its delicate colour and exquisite scent are captivating. Conducted tours can be arranged for groups on request.
