Sika's profits soar by 21.2%

Despite the precarious economic situation in many countries where Sika trades, the Baar-based building chemical and adhesive-manufacturing company has managed to achieve a staggering 21.2 % increase in its profits which soared to CHF 310.2 million over the first three quarters of this year.

In local currency terms, the company's turnover in the third quarter of this year rose by 11.7%, which contributed to it being able to announce a turnover of CHF 4,174 billion in the first nine months of this year; this is the equivalent to an increase of 15.8%. In Swiss franc terms, sales increased by 8% in the third quarter and by 9.6% over the first nine months of 2014.

As Jan Jenisch (second photograph), the CEO of Sika, explained, these excellent figures were as a result of a number of factors such as further acquisitions, the introduction of new products, and the setting up of new factories in such places as India, Indonesia, and Serbia. In the USA, too, new plants for additives for concrete and a mortar production were set up.

Following the positive results of the first two quarters of this year as published in July, the company was able to re-adjust its forecasts upwards.

As to the future, the company looks to a further increase in growth by between 9% and 11%. Operating profit is also expected to rise, too, and indeed by between 8% and 12%.
