Shopping centre celebrates

The Steinhausen "Zugerland” first opened its doors in 1979. Together with 16 specialty shops, MMM, which was the name of the Migros markets at that time, the Migros Restaurant, M-Studio, M-flowers, Do-it-yourself and Micasa offered their services (see photo).

The shopping centre presented itself in a new light after a modernization and expansion in 2005, with an enlarged sales area of more than 21,000 square meters, 45 shops, a children's paradise and a range of cultural activities: regional artists exhibited their works in the Forum Zugerland, the cultural space of the Migros Culture Percentage. Now 35 years old, the Zugerland shopping centre is the largest Migros branch in Central Switzerland and, with the 44 other shops, provides jobs for more than 500 people.

Activities for all ages will be taking place throughout the anniversary week from September 29 to October 4. For example, there will be a giant cake made from balloons on the upper sales floor. With a little luck and guesswork, visitors can win a Zugerland Centre Thaler worth CHF 3,500 as the top prize, along with other prizes. There is also the chance to win one of the to 35 daily instant prizes from the shops of the centre with the free tickets that are distributed throughout the centre. With face painting, a balloon artist and a vibrant Jukebox, there is entertainment for adults and children the whole week. "Zugerland” is also offering a culinary delicacy on Saturday: the 3,500 muffins that make up the birthday cake will be distributed to visitors.
