The saying  ‘we are not in Kansas anymore’ comes from the famous 1930's movie The Wizard Of Oz where a young girl from Kansas is swept away by a tornado, and deposited in a magical land called Oz. Realizing she is no longer in familiar and comfortable territory, she comments “we're not in Kansas anymore.”

This expression is often used when someone’s environment, be it social/cultural, geographical or economic, changes dramatically and they must make the necessary adjustments to fit in or conform to the new norms. This is exactly the situation faced by international companies’ when moving to Switzerland.
