Semi-stationary speed-monitoring camera damaged

Damage to the tune of several thousands of francs has been caused to a semi-stationary speed-monitoring camera, one of three the police has at its disposal, beside the A4 motorway near Mettmenstetten.

Although this section of the motorway is in the canton of Zurich, it comes under the jurisdiction of the Zug police, who have issued an appeal to anyone who might be able to provide them with information to help them find the culprits to contact them without delay.

It is clear from the damage that several blows were directed at the equipment in the early hours of last Thursday morning, resulting in damage to the protective glass panels, as can be seen in the photograph.

As Frank Kleiner of the Zug police confirmed, this is not the first time damage has been caused to such monitoring equipment, a similar incident having occurred on Holzhäusernstrassse in Hünenberg in February of 2016.

In this case the culprit turned out to be a 27-year-old man who was duly fined, his having to pay for the several thousands of francs’ worth of damage caused as a result of a subsequent civil case.

The number to call the police if you know something is 041 728 41 41.
