Rain postpones start of Rigi season

The winter sports season on the Rigi mountain will unfortunately not get under way on Saturday. Heavy rainfall this week, in particular throughout Thursday and as high up as 1,800 metres, has meant that the conditions are not suitable for skiing, and thus the lifts will not be opened on Saturday, as was originally planned. It is hoped that at least some of the ski-lifts will be up and running on Sunday, but this will very much depend on weather conditions between now and Saturday evening.

The Zugerberg is also closed to skiers and sledgers alike. There is only 5 centimetres of snow along the cross-country tracks, and it is not yet known when the season will open. 10 of 14 slopes (and all five lifts) are open at Sattel however, which is currently looking to be the best bet as far as the local resorts are concerned.
