Police set up speed checks near schools

As mentioned earlier this week, some 16,000 pupils started their new term last Monday, 1,174 for the first time.

Many of these pupils will be making their journey to school by bike or on foot and may not be that familiar with road safety or have their mind on other things at this time.

The Zug Police have therefore appealed to drivers and other road users to be particularly careful in the mornings and afternoons as pupils make their way to and from school.

Units of the Zug Police will be patrolling the areas in the immediate vicinity of schools and kindergartens with speed checks in operation in these areas, too.

Over the next few weeks, police will be visiting a number of schools and kindergartens to instruct pupils in road safety.

Locals will have noticed posters making drivers aware that pupils are returning to school at present; one shows how cyclists are expected to stop if they can see a child is about to cross the road.
