Phone call leads to arrest of four criminals

The cantonal police have arrested four criminals who admitted breaking into a garage in Cham's industrial zone.

Shortly before 4.10 am on Tuesday morning, a woman phoned the police to say how she had seen four men suspiciously walking round a house by the bus-stop at Städli on Zugerstrasse in Cham. As it happened, it turned out to be a false alarm but as the police were on their way to investigate the call, they came across a car with four men as it was driving from Chamerstrasse in Zug by the Alte Lorze, heading for the city's motorway access road.

The police stopped the car and searched it. In so doing they came across various tools suitable for breaking into buildings. The men were taken away for questioning and admitted having broken into a garage in Cham's industrial zone and stealing a digital camera, which they said was all they could find worth stealing.

The accused are aged between 18 and 28 and come from Bosnia-Herzogovina, Switzerland, Serbia and Turkey, though all are resident in the canton of Zurich. It is currently being investigated to see if they are responsible for any other crimes. They are expected to appear in court in due course.
