Number of buildings set to be demolished

A number of buildings, both residential and industrial, are set to be demolished shortly to make way for a new production facility for the V-Zug company.

The buildings affected include a former caretaker’s house at number 5 Ahornstrasse, two (unoccupied) detached houses at numbers 11 and 13 Göblistrasse, as well as other industrial buildings on Oberallmendstrasse and Industriestrasse.

The new production facility on this extensive V-Zug site will be made up of a 12-metre-high, single-storey, 88-metre x 24-metre building with an extensive basement and is expected to enter into operation in 2018. As Beat Weiss, the managing director of V-Zug Properties, explained, the new facility will house a state-of-the-art press-line for use in the manufacturing of the next generation of the company’s products.

Weiss further explained how the current car park would have to be re-configured and a bicycle shed moved in preparation for construction to be able to start on this new production facility, which is planned for the first quarter of 2017, subject to permission having been obtained.

Other areas of work will be transferred to the new Mistral building on the northern edge of the site adjacent to Grienbachstrasse, with normal production at the company carrying on, of course, as all these major alterations take place.

As previously reported, the V-Zug company has other ambitious plans for its site, particularly in the area between Industriestrasse and Oberallmendstrasse setting up, for example, a Centre for Technology and Innovation, research and training facilities as well as building offices, premises for start-up companies and even flats, though the timetable for all this extends to as far as 2040 and beyond.
