New managing director of Tourist Board announced

It has been announced that Nicolas Ludin is to take over as managing director of the Zug Tourist Board from Sunday 1 April this year.

The 34-year-old will be taking over from Seraina Koller, who held this post for the past three years, during which time the board entered into its first agreement with the Airbnb online accommodation-booking forum and developed and implemented a new tourist strategy for the canton involving numerous partnerships.

Ludin was previously head of sales and marketing of the Art Deco Montana Hotel in Lucerne. He is a graduate of the renowned Swiss School of Hotel Management in Lucerne and studied business studies at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, specialising in marketing and communication.

One of his challenges will be to focus on the luring of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, (known in the tourist industry as MICE) to the canton and increasing the occupancy of local hotels at weekends. One major fixture on his calendar is the National Swiss-Wrestling and Alpine Festival, which the canton is hosting in the summer of 2019, when as many as 250,000 visitors are expected. It has been previously reported how some hotels are already fully booked for this event.
