Music from four centuries to be performed

A concert of music from four centuries composed for two instruments organised by the Zug Friends of Church Music (GFK) is to be performed at the City Church in Alpenstrasse on the occasion of Penance Day this Sunday,17 September.
 
Some of the works will be performed solo by Olivier Eisenmann on the organ, who will be accompanied in other pieces by Verena Steffen on the flute.
 
Among the works played will be Prelude for Organ in G Major by Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn (1805-1847) and the Festival Overture on “Eine Fest Burg ist Unser Gott” by Otto Nicolai (1810-1849) and adapted specifically for organ by Franz Liszt. Work by Naji Hakim, a Lebanese-French composer born in 1955, will also feature as variations on “Wie schön leuchet der Morgenstern” are performed on the organ and flute.
 
The concert starts at 8 pm that evening. There is no admission charge but there will be a collection, proceeds going to the GFK Concert Fund.
