Municipality's Slovak partner town invites locals to return visit

The municipality of Hünenberg has enjoyed a thriving partnership with Banska Stiavnica for some time and now the Slovak town has invited the local council to go on another return visit.

What is more, anyone who is interested in going to this beautiful town, which is around 100 kilometres to the east of the capital of Bratislava, is warmly invited to come along. Neither residence in Hünenberg nor membership of the twining association is a pre-requisite to be able to go on this visit from Wednesday 8 until Saturday 12 July.

The trip costs CHF 800 and includes the return flights from Zurich to Vienna, onward and return coach journeys to and from Banska Stiavnica (main photograph), four overnight stays in addition to all meals, drinks and admission fees.

The Swiss group will be formerly welcomed by the mayoress of Banska Stiavnica in the historic town hall before setting off on a busy schedule which includes visiting an old mine and the Slovak Mining Museum. Then there is a visit to the hunting museum in the castle at Sväty Anton (second photograph), which used to belong to Tsar Ferninand I of Bulgaria, not to mention a visit to the town of Kremnica (third photograph) with its old mint dating back to 1328. The visit also coincides with the annual chess championships in Banska Stiavnica, where there will be the added attraction of amateur actors depicting the moves on the city's main square.

The president of the Hünenberg-Banska Stiavnica Twinning Association, Richard Aeschlimann, will gladly respond to any questions prospective participants may have, otherwise further details can be found on www.ahoj-stiavnica.ch. Those who have already made up their mind to go can register their intention on info@ahoj-stiavnica.ch or by writing to the association at Dorfstrasse 7, 6331 Hünenberg, but no later than Thursday 30 April.

As places are limited, allocation will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
