Municipality achieves surplus of CHF 3.4 million in 2013

The municipality of Steinhausen has managed to achieve a surplus of CHF 3.4 million over the course of 2013.

In all, the municipality raised CHF 25.3 million in taxes. This is CHF 3.6 million more than budgeted for and represents an increase of CHF 3.5 million on the previous year.

Apart from the greater income through tax, less expenditure in a number of areas such as social welfare, health, planning, the environment and civil protection led to a reduction to the extent of CHF 500,000 less than budgeted for. Only in the areas of schools and education did expenditure exceed that expected in the budget and indeed to the extent of CHF 290,000.

A public meeting will be held on Wednesday 11 June when further details of the municipalities accounts and  what to do with the residue will be discussed.
