MS Schwyz runs aground while docking

The MS Schwyz ran aground as she attempted to dock at Zug harbour on Sunday afternoon. While some of the passengers were slightly shaken by the incident, all 42 of them were able to disembark safely.

The MS Schywz vessel, who only herself went to the rescue of another ship in difficulty on Lake Zug earlier this month, was heading to dock at 12.28 pm as per timetable at the jetty at Zug harbour.

However, for some reason, this vessel of the Lake Zug Navigation Company was not able to slow down sufficiently, and collided with rocks by the shoreline causing its bulbous bow to be damaged.

Police spokesman Frank Kleiner was not able to say to what extent damage had been caused, but did confirm that, fortunately, the jetty at Zug harbour itself had not been damaged.

After manoeuvring astern, MS Schwyz was able to dock, the passengers able to disembark as normal.
