Major work to start at station

Major work is due to start at Steinhausen station with all train services suspended for four weeks later this summer.

The SBB has announced that, as a result of extending its services from the station extensively since 1989, the wear-and-tear on the lines and points has been substantial, hence work is to begin imminently on rail improvements costing CHF 6.1 million. At the same time, the company is to introduce new LED lighting there, to ensure all passengers continue to feel safe.

In order to keep disruption to passengers to a minimum, the railway company is planning to carry out much of the work at night and at weekends. However, from Friday 6 July until Monday 6 August no train services will operate from the station at all, with buses brought in to transport passengers.

It is hoped that by the beginning of September all work will be complete.
