Landscaping of extension to Villette Park complete

Work began on the extension to Villette Park in Cham as early as 18 February this year. Now the public can see what a wonderful job has been done there to enable locals and visitors to enjoy the area in all its glory.
 
For example, there is now a new footpath which winds its way through the park with ample opportunity for visitors to sit down and take it all in. Furthermore the brook running through the park has been re-naturalised and additional trees and shrubs have been planted.
 
Plans for this 12,300-square-metre extension actually go way back before the work started this year. The idea was mooted in 2011 and the following year locals were asked in a referendum if they felt it right for the municipality to acquire the land for CHF 3.4 million. Then in December last year CHF 185,000 was forthcoming to enable re-landscaping to take place, the results of which can now be admired by everyone.
 
The park will be ceremonially opened on the occasion of the Villette-Fäscht on Saturday 30 August.
