International start-up blockchain companies compete for CHF 100,000 prize

The finals of an international competition to find the best start-up blockchain company are to take place in the canton next week.

This is the first time this blockchain competition for start-up companies has been held, on this occasion for those providing solutions to the insurance sector.

It has already been announced that the ten finalists are Blockchain Insurlab and Reportix of Germany, Cybercar of the United States, Eth-Covering and Loyalty Coin of Switzerland, Helper Bit of Italy, along with Insurdata, Nexus Mutual, Tokimart and Blocksure of the United Kingdom, all of whom will be competing for a prize of CHF 100,000 along with an office in Zug.

Companies opting to enter the competition have been able to do so since April of this year, submitting their projects to the organisers, Lakeside Partners and Inacta, who were themselves proactive in encouraging new start-up companies in this sector to compete. This resulted in no fewer than 100 entries from as many as 31 countries.

The ten afore-mentioned finalists were chosen by a specialist jury made up of 17 blockchain and technology experts, investors, legal experts as well as representatives from the insurance companies such as Helsana and Suva.

The name of the winning company will be announced on Wednesday 22 November.
