Heinrich Kübler AG company reduces number of redundancies

As reported earlier this month, the Heinrich Kübler AG company of Baar announced its intention to dismiss 20 staff as a result of it planning to relocate part of its production to Germany.

Yesterday, the company, which manufactures precision instruments for the measurement of liquid levels, announced that it was correcting this figure to 13. Management had re-examined the situation, enabling six of those under threat of dismissal able to be kept on after all. In one other case an employee affected took early retirement.

A consultation period was duly inaugurated, as required by law, but, according to company spokeswoman Stefanie Brand, unfortunately no viable alternative solution had been able to be found. She stressed, however, how intensively management had done their best to keep the number of redundancies as low as possible.

The 13 employees affected will lose their jobs with effect from 31 March 2017. In all, some 60 staff work at the plant on Ruessenstrasse in the municipality (photograph).

As previously reported, Heinrich Kübler AG company, formerly a German family-owned business, was actually taken over by a German competitor company, KSR Kuebler Niveaumesstechnik AG, last month.

Brand had earlier explained that production involving much highly skilled manual work had not been cost effective in Baar for some time and that the strong franc had also had a deleterious effect on business.
