FSM, Fachstelle Migration

The Migration Advisory Office works on behalf of the Economic Affairs Department and the communities of Zug to provide newcomers to the Canton with guidance and assistance.

It provides an invaluable service to those new to Zug, who may be as uncertain about aspects of the lifestyle and culture as they are to a new language. In which case the Migration Advisory Office can provide guidance and information about local and national issues, as well as offering impartial and confidential advice on more complex issues.

There are 12 languages spoken in the Migration Advisory Office: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Tamil, Albanian, Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian. It is considered as important that clients can speak to the Advisors in their native language as it is that they are offered the opportunity to learn German (which they can also advise on).

The Migration Advisory Office is aware of the concerns and requirements of those new to a community and seek to assist those newcomers with all their enquiries, be they big or small.
Whether it be information on local clubs and organisations, lists of doctors and professionals, information on social security, finance and law, this information can mostly be delivered in their chosen language.

After the initial free consultation, the annual membership fee of CHF 10.- covers all advisory services with a nominal tariff for additional administrative services, such as written translations and tax returns.

The offices lie in the Old town of Zug, a short walk from Kolinplatz and are open Monday to Friday. The Welcome Desk on the ground floor, offers a `drop in` centre daily between 13:30 and 16:00 for general questions, and offers support and assistance on all aspects of life within Canton Zug. Where more specialist advice is required, the Advisors are available by appointment to provide guidance and can refer issues to specialists when necessary.

Just call us, drop by or check out our website for more information. We look forward to being of service.
