Four women ordered to leave the country

Four women aged between 22 and 24 were ordered to leave the country last week after they were found to have been working illegally in a bar in Cham.

A check on staff at the bar was carried out by the police in cooperation with the Cantonal Offices of Immigration and Economy. Each one of the women, who come from Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina, was found to have been working as a waitress without the appropriate permit.

Following their arrest, they were heard in fast track proceedings and each given a conditional fine before being ordered to leave the country and banned from returning to Switzerland, Liechtenstein or any of the Schengen states within two years.

In addition to the four women, police also found game terminals and computers used for gambling. As a result, the 41-year-old manager of the bar, who also comes from Bosnia Herzegovina, now faces charges relating to contravention of the Aliens’ Act and Lottery Act in addition to having to answer to the Swiss Federal Gaming Board.
