Four injured in major accident involving four vehicles

A serious road traffic accident occurred on the Lorzentobelbrücke (the bridge over the River Lorze ravine) in Baar on Tuesday morning.
 
The incident happened shortly before 7.15 am as a 22-year-old driver was on his way towards Zug. For some unknown reason he veered over onto the wrong side of the road and collided with two approaching vehicles and then another vehicle also travelling towards Zug.
 
As a result of the collision, a 47-year-old man had to be cut free from his vehicle by the Zug Voluntary Fire Brigade. The 22-year-old, a German national resident in the canton, was also taken to hospital where he underwent an operation. In addition, a 34-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were taken to hospital for less serious injuries.
 
All cars were totally written off in the incident which police estimate caused damage to the extent of CHF 120,000.
 
As a result of the accident, the bridge had to remain closed until noon with a detour set up via Allenwinden.
 
At present it is not known what caused the accident. As of Tuesday evening, the 22-year-old was too ill to be questioned.
 
The Zug Police have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call them on 041 728 41 41 without delay.
