Fasnacht celebrations virtually trouble-free

The police and other emergency services are pleased to report that there has been no major increase in the need for their services during the past few days of Fasnacht celebrations, which came to an end yesterday.

According to police spokeswoman Judith Aklin, things have been very calm since last Thursday, officers having been called to attend just two incidents relating to people being drunk, one in Baar and one in Steinhausen, when, in this latter incident, a young man had to be treated for injury to his head after a fall.

The police said they felt they had been able to say that the celebrations had been trouble-free as early as two days ago as it is always over a Fasnacht weekend when most celebrations take place. And this was already over by Monday, of course. Furthermore, the police said no-one had been caught driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of attending carnival activities and the number of incidents of theft reported was very small. “All of which means we can speak of a most successful and calm Fasnacht time,” concluded Aklin, speaking from a police point of view.

Meanwhile, over at the Cantonal Hospital in Baar, its spokeswoman, Sonja Metzger, said that there had hardly been any difference between the number of patients treated for slight injuries over the last few days and those treated on normal days.
