Two young people will be blogging about Zug in the future

In order to become more attractive for young people, the Zug Tariff Association has been working with two bloggers since the beginning of the year.

It goes without saying that they both arrived at the appointment in Zug railway station by public transport: Sereina Wipfli and Joel Luchs are the new Zug Pass Plus bloggers of the Zug Tariff Association (Tarifverbund Zug). They will attend various events in the canton all year round and publish their experiences in the form of stories on the Instagram social media platform.

“The Zug Tariff association, Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe (ZVB = Zug Public Transport) and their partner companies want to inspire the population with great ideas for excursions on the new Instagram channel ‹wirbewegenzug› (we move Zug),” explains ZVB media spokeswoman Karin Fröhlich. By using Instagram, they want to particularly address the younger and youngest generation.

This is meat and drink to Sereina Wipfli and Joel Luchs. The two bloggers are provided with an annual subscription to the Zug Pass Plus, as well as admission to various Zug events. While the sports-loving Joel Luchs, who is a trainer at the Badminton Club Steinhausen, will cover sports events such as EVZ games or the Zug Sports Festival, frequent traveller Sereina Wipfli will attend cultural events such as the Seenachtsfest, Tech am See or the Openair Kino. "As I come from Cham, I’m particularly looking forward to being able to follow this year's Villette Fäscht," she says.

In his turn, Joel Luchs will go to the Waldstock Festival and the carnival events in Steinhausen, his home town. The 23-year-old says that he became aware of the Zug Tariff Association's campaign at the Zuger Messe (Zug trade fair): “I mostly travel by public transport anyway. In addition, as a blogger, I will cover exactly those events that people from Zug visit anyway”.

Sereina Wipfli agrees: "As a Zuger Pass Plus blogger, I’ll be doing exactly what I normally do on my social media channels." When asked what is important for an Insta-story, she starts talking shop: The light must be right, very few filters should be used, the font should be simple and special video formats - so-called ‘boomerangs’ – shouldn’t be introduced too quickly. "You’ll have to explain that to me in more detail when the opportunity arises," adds Joel Luchs. His focus is more on photography, and he is particularly familiar with drones, of which he owns two models.

The Zug Tariff Association launched its search for suitable bloggers in autumn, with a poster campaign, and around 15 young people applied, says Fröhlich. "The selection was not easy, as they were all committed and likeable people," explains the media spokeswoman.

Sereina and Joel impressed with their fresh manner, but also with their social media appearances. Sereina Wipfli, for example, regularly places aesthetic landscapes on her Instagram account "slayraina", and already has almost 1,300 subscribers. Joel Luchs publishes his drone images on the website www.joelluchsphotography.ch, and has also carried out photo assignments for the City of Zug.

When asked whether they are now pursuing a career as bloggers, Sereina Wipfli and Joel Luchs replied in the negative, with a smile. While Joel, who works as a draftsman, began studying social pedagogy in September, the 18-year-old Sereina is due to graduate from Kanti Zug in May. She is thinking about studying law in Freiburg - but may suddenly decide to move towards Social Media. "You never know," she says with a wink.
