The Chrööpfelimee was the spur to form a choir

As soon as the carnival days are over, music will once again sound through the streets of the city of Zug - but of a finer and quieter kind. On the coming Sunday, eleven groups of Chrööpfelimee singers will roam through the city and serenade 15 loving pairs. The Laut & Luise vocal group will be taking part for the second time.

Compared to many of the other vocal groups who have been taking part in the Chrööpfelimee for years, they are virtually newcomers. But they also stand out through something else - the women and men who have prepared for the Chrööpfelimee over the past few months are some of the youngest participants. "We are all around 25 years old, because the core of our group attended the same class at the Cantonal School," explains Co-President Noemi Sablonier. A large part of their music class was getting together regularly, even before their time at the ‘Kanti’ came to an end. "For a long time, it had been our intention to make music together again." There was not enough time for many of them, however. When some of them were about to take their final examinations in the summer of two years ago, they decided to make a start. "We said to ourselves, 'Well, let's do it now'. Otherwise nothing would probably have happened.” recalls Sablonier, and laughs.

“It was the perfect opportunity for us to found the choir. And we thereby had an audience without having to organise too much.”

The choir Laut & Luise already sang for couples at last year's Chrööpfelimee.

Some of the pieces they are performing this year still come from their time at the Kanti. "When we wanted to get started, we asked our former music teachers if they could provide us with the scores for some pieces." The teachers were happy about this, and helped out, says Sablonier. "We have also bought a few notes ourselves in the meantime." With 34 people, Laut & Luise will probably be the largest group on the Chrööpfelimee this year. The gifts - "Chrööpfeli" (sweet pastries) and wine – were certainly enough to go around last year, as they sang for all the couples. "It could also be that they put a little more Chrööpfeli and wine in the baskets because of the size of the group," suspects Noemi Sablonier. They ate the sweet pastries right away, but the two to three bottles of wine that were presented for each performance last year were kept for a social evening.

The Chröpfelimee takes place on Sunday, March 1st, from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the city of Zug. The Chor Laut & Luise will sing by the Hotel Ochsen at 8.50 p.m.
