Should the City of Zug support the Classic Car Meeting financially?

The Oldtimer Sunday Morning Treffen (OSMT) has been regularly attracting thousands of fans of classic cars and motorcycles from all over German-speaking Switzerland to Zug for more than 20 years. The car fans continued to get together at the Braunviehzuchtareal (brown cattle breeding area) last summer.

The SVP local councillors (Swiss People’s party) Philip C. Brunner, René Gretener, Roman Küng and Manfred Pircher have now submitted a question regarding the OSMT, concerning the City of Zug’s cooperation with, and financial support of public events organised by private individuals or associations.

For example, they want to know whether and, if so, what financial support the OSMT receives from the city, but also what requirements must be met so that a service agreement can be concluded with the City of Zug. The interpellants also asked whether the city council (Stadtrat) regards the OSMT as one of the most important traditional events in the city of Zug and whether it should thereby deserve good framework conditions and support.

The municipal councillors (Gemeinderäte) thereby note that Zug Tourism is not promoting the event as a top event.

Note:
The dates for the next meetings in summer 2024 have already been set according to the OSMT homepage:
2nd June, 7th July, 3rd August, 4th August and 8th September 2024
