Injured footballer Nahuel Allou looking forward to going home

The FC Rotkreuz football team winger Nahuel Allou, who suffered a broken tibia in the 1st league game against Muttenz last Saturday, has undergone a successful operation, and is doing well under the circumstances.

Nahuel Allou doesn’t want to go into any details about the scene in which he was injured in a collision with the Muttenz goalkeeper shortly after the start of the second half (we reported on Monday). That has to be respected. Nevertheless, it is important to briefly summarise what happened. Nahuel Allou slid into the Basel goalkeeper as he ran out on the artificial turf at the Rotkreuz Sportpark, which had become slippery due to constant rain, and remained on the ground afterwards.

It was immediately clear that the speedy Rotkreuz winger was seriously injured. The players and those responsible for the two teams were just as shocked as the around 50 people who attended the match. Everyone waited for an ambulance to arrive. After what felt like an eternity, an ambulance drove Nahuel Allou to the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, where he was immediately operated on.

Fixed with pin and nails
When the Zuger Zeitung newspaper contacted the accident victim by telephone on Tuesday, he gave the following statement: “The shinbone, which had been broken several times, was straightened and fixed with pins and nails. Thanks to the painkillers I've been given, I'm doing well under the circumstances, and I'm already looking forward to taking my first steps without crutches. I was very happy to receive many encouraging messages, well-wishes and visits; they give me strength for the tasks ahead."

When asked whether he could imagine actively playing football again, he replied, quite understandably: “I'm not thinking about that at the moment. I hope that I will fully recover from this accident and be able to return home to my partner and our two children as quickly as possible. I know I’m in good hands there.”

Nahuel Allou added hopefully: “I think and hope that this could be the case as early as Thursday.
