The 64-year-old damaged a bridge railing
At around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, the police received a report that an accident had been observed on the Vorderbergstrasse in Walchwil. A patrol was sent out and discovered a damaged bridge railing and debris on the roadway at the scene of the accident.

According to the Zug police, the patrol followed the tyre tracks to a heavily damaged car, where they also found the driver, a woman, who confessed to having caused the accident. The police found 0.64 per mil alcohol in the 64-year-old.

Inebriated driver tried to flee from the police
About two hours later, a patrol carried out a traffic check at the same location. After seeing a clear hand signal from the police, a motorist swerved past and drove further downhill. The police followed him for about a kilometre until the 50-year-old stopped when the police showed the light display "Stop police".

The police found him to have 2.0 per mil alcohol. The driver was apparently aware of his alcohol consumption, and stated that he wanted to flee from the police. He had to hand in his driver's license on the spot, and will now have to answer to the Zug Public Prosecutor’s office.
