Eurocity evacuated on Sunday evening between Baar and Horgen

A Eurocity train from Milan to Zurich with 600 passengers on board became stuck at Sihlbrugg on Sunday evening due to a defect in the catenary. The effects were still being experienced on Monday morning.

A double-train composition became stranded between Baar and Horgen Oberdorf on Sunday evening, and paralysed the whole section, reported an SBB spokesman on request. The pantographs of the two train units had become entangled in the overhead contact line.

The train could not be moved until repairs had been carried out on the roof. The approximately 600 passengers had a long wait on the train until railway specialists could correct the faulty overhead line and evacuate the train.

This incident also affected the timetable of the SBB on Monday morning. Cancelled train, detours and replacement buses were the result. The start of the working week was therefore even more frustrating for many commuters.

There was good news at 8.30 am: The problems had been resolved, and trains could run again according to the timetable.
