Corona virus: Expanded testing possibilities

In order to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, rapid testing is essential for all people with symptoms. In this way, chains of infection can be interrupted quickly. The population of Zug has various options for this, and the costs of the tests will be covered by the federal government for symptomatic persons.

In order to be able to identify and isolate infected persons as quickly as possible, rapid and uncomplicated tests are important, according to the press release of the cantonal health directorate. All persons who are experiencing symptoms of the disease COVID-19 should therefore be tested. The tests are specifically intended for people with symptoms. The most common symptoms include:

Test centres at the Zug Cantonal Hospital and the Andreas Clinic
Both Zug acute hospitals now offer their own Corona test centres:

Apart from the smear tests themselves, neither test centre offers any further consultations on the coronavirus.

Tests and advice in doctor's practices by appointment
People with symptoms can still be tested in their GP practice. An appointment by telephone is always necessary, however. In this way, contact between those who may be infected and other patients can be minimised. "If further examinations are necessary beyond the mere testing, e.g. due to the patient's state of health, these will be charged to the patient as usual. The so-called Corona smear for people who meet the symptoms mentioned by the FOPH is also fully invoiced to the federal government by the family doctors," says Georg Bohn, board member of the Zug Medical Association.

Good cooperation pays off
Thanks to these different test offers, all Zug residents can be tested for symptoms quickly and easily. "Once again, it is clear that cooperation between the canton, doctors and hospitals is excellent in the canton of Zug," says Martin Pfister, the health director. "This uncomplicated contact also brings concrete added value for the people of Zug."
