75-year-old woman causes accident and has to be hospitalized

A woman driver under the influence of alcohol has caused an accident on the cantonal road between Schmittli and Nidfuren. The woman had to be taken to hospital for checks, but the occupants of the other cars were fortunately uninjured.

The accident happened on Saturday evening, shortly after 6.45 p.m., on the cantonal road between Schmittli and Nidfuren. A 75-year-old woman driver was travelling from Aegeri towards Zug. According to a statement from the Zug police, she drove into the oncoming lane In a right-hand bend, and crashed into the side of an oncoming car. This car lost a wheel, turned through 180 degrees and came to a halt facing in the opposite direction. At the same time, the vehicle of the person responsible for the accident crashed violently into a second car that was also heading towards Aegeri.

The damage to the three involved vehicles is considerable. All suffered total damage, according to the report, and had to be transported away. The driver who caused the accident was injured and had to be taken to hospital for checks, but the occupants of the two oncoming cars were fortunately uninjured. As the 75-year-old was found to have symptoms of alcohol consumption, the public prosecutor ordered a blood sample to be taken at the hospital.

The cantonal road had to be closed in both directions for the recording of the accident and the recovery of the vehicles.
