The Zug police held two significant events last Friday, 29 September 2023. Around two dozen new police officers were officially accepted into the Zug police force, and the new flag of the police corps was unveiled. The ceremony took place at the Theatre Casino in Zug.

The Zug Police corps have been strengthened by 23 new police employees. At a ceremony in the Theatre Casino in Zug on Friday, the new police officers were accepted into the corps by Security Director Laura Dittli. According to a statement recently issued by the Zug Police, 160 guests and relatives gathered in the Theatre Casino to attend the inauguration.

Among the 23 new employees were two female graduates and 13 graduates of the police training course at the Hitzkirch Intercantonal Police School. One man and two women transferred to Zug from other police corps, and two graduates were also honoured for successfully completing their training as police security assistants. Two specialists were also taken on duty as civilian employees.

In addition to the commissioning, the consecration of the new corps flag also took place in the Theatre Casino. Accompanied by celebratory speeches by the Zug police commander Thomas Armbruster, the flag gods Esther Haas and the flag god André Wicki, the flag was unveiled in front of around 160 invited guests.

The coat of arms of the canton of Zug shines in blue and white at the heart of the flag. The 11 municipal coats of arms of the canton of Zug are also shown on the flag, emphasizing the role of the police in the municipalities and the close partnership-based cooperation. They represent the strong bond between the police and the Zug communities.

In addition to the municipal coat of arms, the flag contains two important symbols. The sword, a symbol of protection and commitment to public safety, also symbolizes justice and honour. The feather represents the rule of law, objectivity and transparent action, and is a reminder of the reporting and documentation that are an integral part of police work.
