Elderly woman driver slightly injured

A 74-year-old woman driver was slightly injured on Wednesday afternoon as she was involved in a collision with a stationary car on a garage forecourt (main photograph)

The incident happened at 2.30 pm as she lost control over her vehicle at the Sihltalstrasse-Zugerstrasse roundabout in the municipality and crashed into a vehicle parked on the garage forecourt, damage to both vehicles amounting to CHF 33,000. The woman was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment and also had her driving licence confiscated.

In a second road traffic accident at 5.30 pm later that day, a 35-year-old driver failed to notice that vehicles in front of him travelling towards Lucerne on the A4a motorway had come to a standstill just before an area known as the Blegi curve. As a result, he crashed into the vehicle in front, affecting four vehicles in all as one was shunted into the next (second photograph). Fortunately, no-one was injured. In this case the incident caused damage to the tune of CHF 40,000.
