Drunk driver escapes injury as he crashes into lamppost

A fifty-year-old man caused damage to the tune of CHF15, 000 when he crashed into a lamp-post in the city on Thursday evening.
 
The incident happened at around 9.15 pm as the driver turned from Poststrasse into Gotthardstrasse. When the police arrived on the scene and breathalysed him, it turned out he had a blood-alcohol level of 138mg. After he had had his driving licence confiscated on the spot, he was taken to hospital for a check-up. Now the driver can expect to hear from the Zug Prosecution Service in relation to a number of offences.
