CVP party announces potential successor to the late Pirmin Frei

The CVP party of Baar has announced that Sepp Grob-Bieri has said he is prepared to accept nomination to take over the seat left vacant in the cantonal parliament following the sudden death of Pirmin Frei last month.

As previously reported, Frei was chairman of the CVP party of Baar from 2012 to 2016. As the party wrote following his death, the 52-year-old was responsible in no small way to the success of the CVP in the 2014 elections. Despite the party also admitting it would not be easy to find someone to succeed him in the cantonal parliament, they have announced that Sepp Grob-Bieri (second photograph) has agreed to be nominated for this role, not least as he was next on the list following the previous elections. However, Baar council still has to confirm this and official nomination will not take place until Wednesday 16 May.

A resident of Allenwinden who was born in 1970, Grob-Bieri is a project-leader and head of tendering at the Leo Ohnsorg AG roofing company of Steinhausen.
