Coop to open store at station catering for vegetarians

According to the “20 minute online” newspaper, a new line in Coop stores is to open at Zug station, one catering for vegetarians, or those who only rarely eat meat.

It was in 2013 that the retail store introduced a series of products aimed at vegetarians and vegans under the Karma label, and this is to be the name of a new concept of stores across Switzerland, this first one due to open in Zug on Tuesday 30 May.

In addition to these changes to its store opposite the pharmacy on the ground floor at Zug station, another Coop outlet, this time a “Coop to go” store, is to open in June on platform 4, in premises previously occupied by the Aperto company. This will bring the number of Coop outlets at the station to three, a Coop Pronto store already operating from platform three on the eastern side of the station.

Other businesses are also planning changes to their premises at the station. According to Sonia Kümin, the head of communication of the Two Spice AG company, the Yooji take-away it operates is to expand to take over the adjacent premises currently used by the Claus and Carla hairdressing salon, which in turn will be opening a new salon on platform 4.

The expansion of Yooji’s will mean that, instead of having to take meals away, from July onwards, customers will be able to enjoy them there, with high tables, sofas and facilities for connection to USB, too. Seating is also planned for the area immediately in front of the premises. It is expected that, once work on all this starts in the middle of June, the business will have to close temporarily for three days.
