Construction of Zehnderhof development expected to start in the spring

It is hoped that construction will be able to start on the Zehnderhof development of flats in the centre of Neuheim in the spring of next year.

Plans to build this development of 16 flats, all for rent except one, began as long ago as 2013 but there have been a number of delays. Indeed, the homepage of the architects in Cham responsible for the development has been saying it is “at the planning stage,” for some time.

As Hugo Steiner of the community of heirs which owns the land explained, one problem was finding an investor to finance the development. In some ways, this may seem surprising bearing in mind this prime location and the shortage of such sites for residential development.

What has no doubt put off investors is the fact that a beautiful farmhouse, albeit in a somewhat dilapidated state, sits on the site, with the development, made up of two buildings, to be built on either side. What is more, the farmhouse, which is nearly 350 years old and where Steiner himself grew up with his four brothers and sisters, is a listed building and a tidy sum will be needed to renovate it.

No date was given for when the development might be completed, but bearing in mind the shortage of flats for rent in the municipality, they are sure to snapped up in no time at all.
