Charities join together to set up Christmas fair on circus theme

A Christmas fair on a circus theme is to start on Friday and continue until Wednesday 20 December at the premises of Halle 44 at number 44 Altgasse in the municipality.

These premises are used by an organisation which helps people return to the world of work and this Christmas fair, which opens there at 4 pm on Friday, has been entitled “Circus 44”.

As Esther Staub, the head of Halle 44, explained, “Circus 44” is to be implemented in a most creative and imaginative way by both staff and participants. “There is something to suit everyone,” she said, as she explained how there would be the opportunity for children to make Christmas decorations, participate in painting activities or throw balls at pyramids of tin cans. As to what will be on offer on the culinary front, American hot dogs and popcorn have been mentioned.

Weather permitting, events will take place in the open air on the open space in front of the Halle 44 premises on the first two days, a Christmas village with little houses being set up, from where Glühwein will be able to be bought.

In addition to the contributions by the charity which helps people return to the world of work, products made by people helped by other charities, such as Consol, GGZ@work and the Eichholz Foundation, will be on sale. What with second-hand books available free, too, the canton’s bookworms are sure to be lured there.

As mentioned, the event, for which the organisers have been preparing for several months, opens at 4 pm on Friday 24 November and will continue until 9 pm that evening. Then, the following day, Saturday 25 November, it is open from 10 am until 4 pm. Thereafter, from Monday to Friday, it will be open from 8 am until 11.30 am and from 1pm until 4 pm until it finally closes on Wednesday 20 December.
