Car driver seriously injured after head-on crash with bus






A car driver was seriously injured after crashing head-on into a bus on Wednesday afternoon. Three bus passengers were also slightly injured.
 
The incident happened shortly before 2.30 pm as a 66-year-old car driver turned into Steinhauserstrasse from Chamerstrasse in the city. It was at the Ammannsmatt bus stop that the Audi estate car veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a ZVB bus. According to Zug Police reports, the driver admitted having momentarily nodding off.
 
As mentioned, the driver was seriously injured and three bus passengers were slightly hurt. All four were taken to hospital by the emergency services.
 
The police confiscated the 66-year-old's licence on the spot and damage to the extent of CHF 30,000 was caused.
 
In a separate incident on Wednesday afternoon, a 12-year-old girl and a bus passenger were injured as the girl ran across a pedestrian crossing in Steinhausen.
 
This incident happened shortly after 2.45 pm as the girl ran across Bahnhofstrasse. As she did so she was knocked over and injured by a ZVB bus.
 
It was as the driver of the bus had to apply the brakes suddenly that a 52-year-old lady passenger was thrown forwards and also injured. Both the young girl and the passenger were taken to hospital by the emergency services.
 
The Zug Police are still conducting their enquiries into exactly what happened.
