Canton gives go-ahead for huge Quadrolith development

The canton has given the Alfred Müller AG company the go-ahead to build a huge CHF 120-million service centre on the Neuhof Industrial site in Baar. When fully operational, as many as 780 people will be employed there.

"We are delighted we can at last get moving on the project," said Christoph Müller, the chairman of the board of the Alfred Müller AG. "Now we can get down to the details."

This Quadrolith development, as its to be known, will actually be made up of two U-shaped buildings each with six floors and will stand out by a shimmering gold façade.

The two buildings, one comprising 12,000 square metres and the other of 15,600, will be able to be divided up into units of 200 square metres. "At present there are hardly any premises in the canton of Zug which can be let out in linked-up units of over 1000 square metres," said Müller, who added that interest had already been expressed for some of the larger units by a number of companies, though he declined to name any. As to the rent, Müller said this would be in the medium-range sector.

Plans of this futuristic-looking development were able to viewed by the public last summer with objections raised by one source only, though these have since been ironed out. "We have actually reduced the number of car-parking spaces from 450 to 360," explained Müller, "and provided more cycle stands."

It is hoped construction, which is to take place in two stages, can start in autumn. As to when tenants will able to take up occupancy, this is not yet known.
