Canton adds four more buildings and a cross considered worthy of listing

The canton has added four more buildings and a cross to its directory of those worth listing. These include the oldest building in Walchwil used for accommodation for rent, namely the chalet at number six Dorfstrasse (main photograph), along with the barn of the Früebüel estate (second photograph) on the Walchwiler Berg.

Then, in the municipality of Hünenberg, the Schulhaus Matten (third photograph) and the Spritzenhaus on Stadelmatt, formerly used to store fire-fighting equipment, have also been included, as has a cross dating back to 1950 on the cantonal road between Lindencham and Sins (fourth photograph).

As to what is considered to be a building or monument worth listing, the canton decides on this in consultation with the individual municipalities.

While the canton has updated its directory in relation to nine out of the 11 municipalities, this still has to be done in relation to both Unterägeri and Oberägeri.

At present just 6% of the buildings in the canton are considered worth listing.
