Armed robbery at club premises

An armed robbery took place at a club in Cham on Monday evening with the perpetrator managing to escape with a small sum of money. Police have since made an appeal to the public to help find him.

The incident happened shortly after 9 pm at the club in the Neudorf Centre on Zugerstrasse (second photograph), which is where the local Turkish-Kurdish community meet up. After entering the premises, the assailant threatened three people and demanded money. It is thought he subsequently ran off towards Johannistrasse with between CHF 200 and CHF 300.

One Croatian witness said that the perpetrator was clearly a beginner or under the influence of drugs as he appeared to be more nervous than those he was threatening. "He was very aggressive, though," he said. "You could tell he was not a professional. I know what these look like after experiences I have had in Stuttgart and Frankfurt," he continued. As to whether the gun the man was holding was real, he was not sure. "What surprised me, too, was that he did not demand the victims hand their mobiles phones over to him, or ask for more money."

As mentioned, the Zug Police have made an appeal to the public to help find the man. He was described as 170 centimetres tall and dressed in black. It was also noticed he had a deep voice and spoke German with a south-east European accent. Anyone with any information which may lead to his arrest is kindly asked to call 041 728 41 41 without delay.
