A rare evening of piano and harp music

The Duo Praxedis of Zug are giving a performance of piano and harp music written especially for them this weekend.

It is not so often that one has the opportunity to hear a piano and a harp played together, but the Duo Praxedis will be doing this at a concert at the Lassalle House in Bad Schönbrunn near Edlibach on Saturday 25 October.

Every year the pair give concerts around Switzerland to enable a wider audience to listen to music with this unusual combination and on Saturday they will be performing works by contemporary Swiss composers.

Among the pieces to be played, an indeed for the first time ever, is an exciting ballad by Alfred Zimmerlin, the winner of the this year's Zurich Cultural Prize.  Works by Carl Rütti, who won the Zug Cultural Prize, will also be played. On the same occasion, the pair will also be presenting their CD, The Sound Of Zurich, which features tracks of earlier works by contemporary Swiss composers.

Works for piano and harp were very popular centuries ago but it is rare to hear the two instruments played together today. This will be put right  for those who would like to attend Saturday's concert, which starts at 8 pm. There is no admission charge but there will be a collection.
