23-year-old driver escapes injury

A 23-year-old driver escaped injury after he lost control over his vehicle as he drove on the A4 motorway on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 2.30 pm as the Kosovan was driving towards Lucerne 600 metres before the Rütihof interchange.

As a result of his loss of control he hit the crash barriers on the central reservation and then veered over all three lanes, scraping another vehicle as he did so before colliding with a concrete wall on the right-hand side of the motorway. After skidding a further 80 metres he finally came to a standstill on the hard shoulder.

As mentioned, the driver was lucky to escape injury. However, the Zug Police confiscated his licence on the spot. He can now expect to be charged accordingly.

Unfortunately, the vehicle, a BMW coupé worth CHF 140,000, was totally written off in the accident.

In an unrelated incident on Tuesday afternoon, a taxi driver in Cham was found to have been driving while disqualified. When stopped by the police, the 33-year-old driver admitted having driven regularly despite the ban and had even chauffeured passengers around after having set up his own taxi service.

The police confiscated his vehicle on the spot and he, too, will face charges for the offences committed.
