20-year-old found to have been driving under the influence of drink and drugs

A young driver has been found to have been driving under the influence of drink and drugs.

It was shortly after 2 am on Tuesday morning that the 20-year-old collided with the crash barriers as he was travelling by the Blegi intersection on the A4 motorway near Cham, coming to a standstill on the right-hand lane.

When he was questioned by police, he gave the impression of being under the influence of drink, with a
subsequent blood and urine test showing that this was indeed the case, as well as indicating he had consumed drugs, too. His driving licence was duly confiscated there and then.

Fortunately, no-one was injured in the incident though the car involved was totally written off.

In a further road-traffic incident on Wednesday morning, a 35-year-old driver was caught doing 97 kph in a southbound direction on Artherstrasse in Oberwil, where the maximum permitted speed is 60 kph.

His driving licence was also confiscated on the spot and he, too, can now expect to be charged for his offence.
