100 expats needed for charity Joggathlon!
The Zug Post is looking to recruit 100 expats to form a team for the Joggathlon being held on Saturday 19 June 2010. The event is organised by the five Zug Rotary Clubs and aims to raise hundred thousands Swiss francs for the Mine-Ex charity (
www.mine-ex.ch) which helps provide physical and psychological support for the victims of landmines in Cambodia.
On 19 June, which is also the date of the Seenachtsfest summer festival in Zug, teams of locals will be running for a total of 12 minutes per person, with the aim being to run as far as possible in that short space of time. Each runner will get sponsors who will pledge a certain amount of money for every 100 metres that they run. There will be food, drinks and entertainment on offer, and even a betting tent where people can bet on how far (or not!) their team-mates will manage to run, with the proceeds again going to charity.
There will be teams featuring local lawyers, doctors, politicians, bankers and traders, and The Zug Post is also looking to raise a team of 100 expats to take part. Either individuals or companies can contact Natalie Albrecht, who runs the ZUG4YOU.ch and The Zug Post website, at welcome(at)zug4you.ch (or through the
contact form) either for more details or to enrol.
There are two ways of taking part:
As a company, you need to pay an entry fee of CHF 500 and recruit 5-10 runners from your company team, who each need to get as many sponsors as possible for their run. Smaller companies can participate with 1-5 runners.
As an individual, you can register under the banner of ZUG4YOU.ch (no entry fee required) and simply get as many sponsors as possible.
The main aim is of course to raise as much money as possible for the charity but this is also a great opportunity to network and get involved with the local community.
The closing date for entries is already 31 March, so get in touch as soon as you can!
